About Me

I started Playing the drums when I was 8. Over time my drum skill and knowledge definitely has been developed adn gotten more advanced. Not only in the skill I play on the drums but also the types of music and variety of music I can play. In my oppinion Drum skill doesnt come from how fast or how well you can play one peice, a good drummer can play a variety of different peices from different culters very well.A good drummer can also stay very consistent with their playing stsyle. They lock into the groove, holds it, maintains the swing by holding things back just a little when other musicians out front are trying to race ahead. Doing so helps gently ease those musicians back into formation. It makes it seem effortless, that little tempo/groove dance. Great sense of dynamics; doesn’t for one moment confuse volume with swing & drive & power BUT: listens well and when it’s time to hit it hard, does that in a way that fuses everybody into the same thundering herd.

My Drum Life

I started playing drums in an old church near San Roque in a neighborhood. After that teacher moved away I started taking lessons In the garage of my new music teachers house. I learned a lot from them but nowhere near as I could have. As I got too my next music teacher I got a lot more skilled. He taught me to play hard and to play with soul. That is when I started getting out of my shell. After That teacher I am where I am now. With my newest teacher I have learned the most. He has taught me many culters of music, not only the physical skills, but also the theory of drums. When you tap your knee with your hand or head bob to the sound of music, you're actually playing along to the main pulse of the song. In most cases the main pulse is the quarter note. The quarter note is the note value from where the other note values from this section are derived. Much like quarter notes, 8th notes are extremely important and common in western music. They are played twice as fast as quarter notes and are preeminent in styles of music like rock, pop, funk, soul, bossa nova, cha cha, heavy-metal, mambo, and even hip-hop.
